Stereotype – how can you be beautiful if you’re anything but perfect?

URGHH straight away this title gets my back up. We are surrounded by stereotypes, we have to look a certain way to be beautiful, have a certain body shape to be hot and dress a certain way to be noticed… erm NO!!!

what the actual F!

Unfortunately the media today has us living in a world where so many of us believe that this is true. I mean if you don’t look a little bit like kin Kardashian or follow her every move then are you even worthwhile??

It literally drains me how women feel they have to inject their faces with crap, slap a ton of make up on, have fake hair, fake eyelashes and fake nails to even come close to feeling beautiful.

Ladies, each and every one of you is beautiful in your own unique way. Why on earth do you want to look like these people.

It saddens me greatly that this is how women feel they need to look. We all have our insecurities but the vast majority of them come from the media and social media.

Are you really under the illusion that these women really look like this? Have you never heard of Photoshop?

I remember an article came out a while back showing 2 pictures of Kim Kardashians ass, one was photoshopped to death, the other wasn’t. Guess what … the woman had cellulite just like everyone else, her bum wasn’t perfectly round, it had dimples in it, because that was the real truth. Not some made up photo that we are meant to believe and eventually fantasize about looking like.

You are perfect because you are you. You should be proud of who you are.

I want to promote body confidence amongst women, if you want to lose weight, then do it for you, not because you feel that the only way you will be noticed is if you’re a twig, likewise if you want to dye your hair, do it for you.

If you take one thing away from this post please let it be this

.. BE YOU.

Chunky but funky

So I’ve not posted in my blog for so long mainly because I’ve had a tough time with pregnancy and work but I’m finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel!

My second trimester saw a whirlwind of shit with work. I found out I was getting made redundant 😥 you can imagine right! The sheer terror was awful

How am I going to live?

How am I going to feed the baby?

I’m going to be an unemployed mum!!!

Seriously the list went on and on and eventually I made myself Ill with worry, but after numerous break downs, conversations with my partner, family and friends I finally managed to figure out my next move and realise that all was not lost.

I’m lucky, I have a fantastic partner and family that would support me through anything but still it was hard.

Anyway I’ve now entered my third trimester, so I’m on the home stretch and one thing I have learnt is that weight gain is inevitable.

Yes, unfortunately ladies, unless you have a personal trainer and chef on hand you are going to gain that weight that you were so desperate not to. Now although this grieves me in a way I can’t explain I’ve come to terms with it as I haven’t given up training. Just because I am gaining weight doesn’t mean I have to stop training. In fact I have been training really hard and I’ve loved it.

I swim 3 times a week and I do 2-3 home workouts a week and I feel better for it.

Guys I know how off putting it is when you step on the scales and see that they either haven’t gone down or, if like me you’re pregnant, the scales gave gone up, but please DONT GIVE UP.

Always remember that muscle weighs more than fat and it’s not about what the scales say, it’s about how you feel.

I may have gained 30lbs with this pregnancy but I feel great and I know that once madam pops out I will pop back into shape.

Hang in there ladies, keep going and encourage eachother.

It’s hard but what’s worth it won’t be easy and what’s easy won’t be worth it.

The struggle is real

Well I have got to be honest exercising in this heat seems unbearable sometimes, especially when you really just want to sit in a bucket of ice!

That aside, the other thing I have been struggling with lately is the weight I have gained. Now unfortunately it is inevitable that when having a baby you are going to gain weight, and if I am being totally honest it is something I have struggled with.

You see I’m one of these people that because of the exercise I do, I very rarely gain weight, that is unless I decide to have a complete fat week and eat the entire domino’s chain! But it’s not often. Now I am having to accept the fact that my body is changing and no matter how much exercise I do, I am going to gain baby weight. And do you know what ladies … IT SUCKS. It’s hard realising that the little ass you used to have now is a huge thing that needs its own postcode, or the size 10 shorts I used to wear now laugh at me when I look at them. And the hair bobble trick is now fully in use! yes I am using hair bobbles to buckle my pants together.

The struggle is real!!!

All of the above are happening to my once toned body and I am struggling to accept that this is what happens when you have a child! So if people say to you, I only gained 10lbs then good for them, but everyone is different and we have to accept that. Listen to me hey, I really need to practice what I preach on this one but I do know that even though I may have gained weight, I will have a lovely healthy baby and my body will find it easier to snap back into shape once I have given birth.

So, ladies, my beautiful women, I assure you, if you feel that you are going it alone and gaining unwanted weight during pregnancy then I am with you!

The main thing is carry on with your healthy eating and exercising and try and accept that your body will change and them unwanted pounds will creep on but it is not forever!

Let me know how you’ve been getting on with your pregnancy and weight gain
