Nobody likes to snuggle a stick!

Due to social media and ‘celebrities’ (I say this in quotation marks as my view of a celebrity is far different from that of the media), most women are under a false illusion that for you to have ‘the perfect’ body you need to be a size 2! WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

This is an absolutely horrific message to send out to the nation. Firstly, I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying ‘nobody likes to snuggle a stick’ well seriously go outside and grab a stick, cuddle it and see how it feels! Not great hey?

As women we come in all shapes and sizes, being a size 14 doesn’t mean you are unfit, crikey not at all. Some women are born curvy, some are born slight but we were not born to starve ourselves to fit in with a completely blinkered nation of barbies. It’s not natural!

My blog and my aim going forward is to empower women, yes I talk about fitness and weight loss, does that mean I am saying you are unfit if you aren’t a certain size? No. My workout advice, fitness posts and insights are to help you understand that you can be so fit and healthy without tormenting yourself to become the average Kardashian.

Being fit is about the strength your body has, the wellbeing of your insides and your mental state of mind. People exercise and get into fitness for all types of reasons. You can get into fitness because it releases them happy endorphins, because you feel slightly out of shape and would like to feel fitter, to enhance how much activity you can do with your children or because your workout is time for YOU. Whatever the reason it’s a good one, but please don’t start working out ridiculously because you want to look like a celebrity, you are beautiful as you, people love you for you and as long as you love your body in the right way then it WILL love you back!

Everybody has a certain goal they want to achieve and that is perfectly fine, the overall aim is to achieve this goal in a healthy way. Don’t go into starvation mode if you haven’t lost the weight you expected to in the first week, it’s not the end of the world. If you want to achieve your goal and sustain your goal then make fitness part of your lifestyle. Do not think to be beautiful and sexy you have got to be skinny because you don’t. Your bone structure may mean you are broader than that of another woman.

I remember when I went down to a size 8, I thought I looked brilliant, my partner tells me otherwise! Seriously, he doesn’t like it and now neither do I. Before becoming pregnant I was a healthy size 10 and I looked in proportion. Unlike before, I have learnt that I love my body and when I take care of myself I seem to shine even more. I don’t have to be a size 8 to look good, I have to feel good from the inside.

Be fit for your mind, be fit for your heart, be fit for you, not for a social image.

In a world of Kardashians, be a Diana.

Walk of the weight!

You don’t have to be an olympic gold medalist to be fit, you don’t need to run 5 miles a day, heck you don’t even need to be part of a gym.

Recently I’ve taken to walking a lot more. I was probably in the region of 30 miles a week and that’s without exerting myself. This could be walking to the supermarket rather than driving, walking to work or going on a countryside walk with your four legged friends.

I love it, being in the fresh air and taking in nature is amazing and the fact that I’m burning calories at the same time makes me that little bit happier. Now depending on the pace of your walk and the incline you can usually burn around 100 calories per mile. So if you walk 3 miles then you’ve probably burnt off the majority of your breakfast.

You see the point I want to make to all of my readers is that you don’t have to be a fitness fanatic like me to be fit. you’ll be amazed that if you start walking a couple of times a week the pounds will start to drop off.

I mean really why would you want to sit on the sofa when you could be in the outdoors? Like I said you don’t have to exert yourself but jumping on your feet and walking will help.

Always remember during any form of exercise keep hydrated and make sure you are eating a balanced diet 🙂

14 weeks pregnant more like 14 weeks fit

So guys I’ve just reached 14 weeks and I feel fitter than ever!

I am probably doing more exercise now than ever before for a few reasons really:

  1. I want my baby to have a strong heartbeat
  2. I want to feel good throughout my pregnancy
  3. I want to be able to get back into my size 10 jeans once I have had the baby
  4. Fitness a huge part of mine and my partners life

My exercise regime however has changed. Once upon a time I would be in the gym 5 times a week for 2 hours a time but now I spend more time working out at home, walking and swimming and this is working for me.

Not everyone will be able to exercise this much when pregnant, everyone is different but everyone can do some form of exercise and you will probably feel better for it. Take this morning, I took my dogs for a half hour stroll, nothing strenuous but I still burnt off 115 calories, that’s 115 more than being sat on my bum at home!

If you’re feeling a little bit more energetic like me then you can push yourself a little more. So this afternoon I’m doing a 7 mile hike and I’ll probably burn about 700 calories.

The choice is yours, make the right choice for you but remember if you are exercising outside in the heat then stay hydrated! It’s so IMPORTANT. 💦

Keep fit, keep strong, keep going 😘

Chose to cheat!

Now I have your attention this title does not mean cheat on your partner that’s just wrong, but when I say chose to cheat I mean have a cheat day! That’s right you can eat your favourite chocolate or crisps or have a take away. It’s not illegal.

People think that by being into fitness it means you can never eat chocolate again, guys you’re not training to become the next pure elite bikini championships!

It is possible to be fit and still have a treat, now I’m not saying go and grab a trolley, stuff it with doughnuts, 4 large pizzas, a fudge cake and 8 litres of coke but I am saying it’s ok to eat certain things in moderation.

Treat yourself 1 day a week, break off from the health kick your on and enjoy something naughty.

If you forever say no then you will crave things more and eventually eat more of that food.

Feel free to share what your chest food is!

Fad diet more like bad diet 🚫

This subject grates on my bones!

I have so many people ask me about quick wins with losing weight … guess what … THERE ARE NONE!

If you want to lose weight and keep it off them you need you need to change your lifestyle and keep it that way.

Thinking that you can just drink Apple cider vinegar for a month or drink herbalife with make you forever thin is complete bollocks! Sorry but it is.

If you want to truly lose weight and keep it off, then the only thing that will work is a balanced diet and exercise and yes, you will have to carry on exercising throughout your life. Like I said it’s a lifestyle choice. Don’t expect to step on the stepper and lose 5lbs. It doesn’t work like that.

Now I’m not saying you need to be in the gym 5 times a week however here are a few things you can do without joining the gym and without exhausting yourself:

  1. Walk to work – if you live a mile or 2 away then walk or bike!
  2. Run up and down the stairs 10 times every day
  3. Grab some tins out of the cupboard and work your arms
  4. Squat whilst brushing your teeth
  5. Do leg raises off the side of your bed.
  6. Drink water!!!!!!!! Guys this is the best one and the easiest. How easy is it to drink 8 pints of beer, Well change it for water

It’s not hard to start being that little bit healthier! Fad diets do not work and more often that not you will end up gaining more weight when you stop than when you began!

Think about your lifestyle and start making them changes.

Look at the below and give them a go 👌

Barely time for breakfast?

So I’m sat on the train going to Cardiff thinking how dam tired I am! This is the story of my life! As a woman working 2 jobs and doing uni part time I more or less walk around with my eyes shut and certainly don’t have time to prepare eggs Benedict every morning (as amazing as that would be). No my mornings entail me hopping around the house half naked with a brush stuck in my hair trying to feed two dogs and dress myself without having a nervous breakdown, sound familiar?

My problem was that because I used to skip breakfast, at about 10am I’d find myself becoming really hungry and snacking on crap! Then I discovered Herbalife.

Now Herbalife, I’m sure you’re thinking is another fad diet and if you use it for every meal I can imagine it could become that, so if that’s what you plan to do then this is not for you!

However if you’re like me and need a quick and healthy breakfast that will give you the energy and supplements you need to last you throughout the morning then I would seriously suggest trying these yummy shakes!

I’m currently using the mint choc chip formula 1 and have it with about 300 ml of rice milk. It tastes like mint aero which is delish!

If you want to know more about my favourite little shake, including nutritional value/where to buy/benefits then drop me a line.

Best thing to do is give it a try 😊💚

Fitness fanatic

So as you know by now, I love fitness. Fitness is my ultimate passion and eventually I would love to have a career based around fitness, the only problem I find is I’m skeptical about things, the usual stuff not getting enough followers, not getting enough business and failing.

However all of my worries still don’t stop me from doing what I love … working out!

I am, for better of words, obsessed with fitness. I find that the gym, the outdoors, the sweat dripping down my neck and my muscles aching from training are all things that take me to my happy place. Never have I come out of the gym and said “I feel worse after doing that”.

Fitness is probably the best therapy you can do for your mental health and your physical health. So don’t be afraid to start.

One thing I would really advise you guys to look at is the IQI FITNESS mini stepper which is available from Amazon at £34.99. If you are slightly nervous about starting out in the gym or you have little time available to get to the gym, then this little gizmo is the best thing for you to get your hands on. It’s compact and easy to use and you can step onto it whilst watching your favourite TV soap. Plus a simple 30 minute workout on this bad boy can see you burning up to 300 calories! Seriously! So instead of sitting on the couch stuffing your face with a doughnut you can be burning the calories with this little dream stepper.

I’m thinking of putting up videos of my workouts, would this be helpful to anyone? Let me! Also you can follow me on Facebook and on instagram for little tips.

Drop me an email if you fancy a chat about fitness, I’m always happy to help 🙂
